Trades and construction bookkeeping / Adelaide

Know what each
job leaves you.

Keep job income, materials and subcontractor costs together. We help Adelaide trades and construction businesses organise their books, track progress payments and see which bills are coming up. We agree the work around the way you run your jobs.

An Adelaide practice led by management accountant Pargat Sandhu. Meet your accountant

01

Track income by job

Use clear job references for quotes, invoices, deposits and progress claims. We help you follow what has been invoiced, what has been paid and what remains outstanding. Your contract adviser handles disputes and legal rights.

02

Keep job costs together

Record materials, subcontractors and other agreed direct costs against the right job. Compare them with the job income and budget. Unallocated costs are kept visible so the result is not presented as more certain than it is.

03

Plan for the payment gap

Suppliers and subcontractors may need paying before your customer pays you. A simple cash-flow view brings expected receipts and upcoming bills together. It helps you spot the gap and discuss next steps early.

The work we can take on

What’s included

We agree the work around your business, your records and the support you need.

srwn is your main contact for bookkeeping, reports and business finances. BAS means business activity statement. Registered partners handle BAS and tax services. We can also work with your existing tax agent.

Customer invoices and progress payments
Track the invoices and receipts you provide. Keep deposits and amounts held back visible for review with your accountant.
Supplier and subcontractor records
Organise invoices, payment dates and job references. Prepare supporting records for reporting obligations handled by the appropriate registered adviser.
Job cost and margin reports
Compare the agreed income and direct costs for each job. Explain missing records and the effect of shared overheads.
Monthly accounts and payroll records
Reconcile bank and card accounts, review unpaid invoices and keep the agreed payroll records together. Regulated reporting is allocated clearly.

A practical starting point

Bring the jobs and the books together.

We review how job information moves from the worksite to your accounts. The quote separates overdue bookkeeping, ongoing records and optional job reporting.

A consistent job reference
Use the same reference on customer and supplier records where possible. Agree who adds it and how exceptions are checked.
A payment calendar
List customer payment expectations and the bills you have committed to. Update the forecast when a project changes or a payment is delayed.
A monthly review
Check unpaid invoices, job costs and the next cash commitments. A short review is more useful than a report nobody has time to read.

Tell us your trade, the software you use, the number of active jobs and whether the books are behind. We will explain what records are needed next.

Working together

A clear plan from the start.

  1. Show us where things stand

We'll check your software, accounts and how many entries you record. We'll also review payroll and any months that need catching up.

  2. Know what you're paying for

We'll confirm the work and fixed fee in writing, and tell you which records to provide.

  3. Keep the books current

Each month, we check your books and answer questions. Your records are then ready for reports or your partner's BAS work.

Before we start

Your questions, answered.

Can you work with Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks?

Yes. We review your current file and job records before recommending changes. The right tracking setup depends on how many jobs you run and the detail you need.

Can you show whether a job made a profit?

We can prepare a job-cost view when the underlying income and costs are available. We agree which costs are included and make missing or unallocated items clear.

Do you provide construction contract or tax advice?

We provide bookkeeping and business reporting. Contract advice belongs with your legal adviser. Registered partners or your existing tax agent handle BAS, tax and regulated reporting.
